I left the South American continent in a mix of sadness and joy. The sadness was due to some unfinished plans, like the Peruvian coast or the Cordillera Blanca, closer to Ecuador. Of course, the joy was coming back home, back to the sweetness of those I cherish, and to the comfort of a real mattress and warm temperatures.
Still, the prevailing joy, was the feeling of mission accomplished. When you embark on such a journey, you spend months planning, dreaming and wondering. At this point I was there, right there at the point where you can sum it all and deliver a verdict. And it could not have been a better one. The score was tremendous! First of all, the preparations revealed themselves very accurate, specially gear wise. The ground was carefully studied and the people we met, foreigners but mostly the Indians, made it all worth the pain and the cold.
Sometimes I ask myself why did I write these memories, as I went along. Well, some of my friends wanted to keep in touch with the stories I was collecting, but I must confess it was healthy for me too; a sort of catharses for all those days, ranging from tiredness to absolute euphoria.
Nevertheless, there was one more thing I aspired to with these recollections. That was to, through my words and the feeling expressed in them, provide you with the least bit of curiosity and interest about a continent which not only fascinates me by it's unique landscapes, but also by the social scene; something no book can describe with the same rawness of the physical presence.
On the airplane back, Kwame and I decided to plan the next one, with an open date. 3 possibilities emerged. 3 different continents, one same will. What a thrilling planet!
Over and out.

Welcome to my ongoing diary of thoughts and projects.
Here I sketch the storyboard of 2 characters, trapped in my body and linked to the world through my senses. They control my brain in a constant search for life waves, the eternal energy that feeds their souls.
Gummavitta is the explorer, the architect and the scientist. He searches the hemispheres of the earth, the mind and the human condition.
Mummagumma is the traveler, the painter and the dancer who collects Gummavitta´s experiences and memories and applies them to achieve connections. Connections with himself, which means you and I, us and them.
