Forum Coimbra
O Forum Coimbra é uma unidade comercial de dimensão relevante, na sequência das recentes tipologias comerciais de mega-escala, implantadas sobretudo nos territórios mais densamente habitados de Portugal. Insere-se no topo da colina da margem Sul do Mondego, resultando como uma nova referencia visual da cidade.
Este projecto ditou a minha entrada na Broadway Malyan, e fui inserido na equipa responsável pelo projecto durante três anos. Para além de uma experiência profundamente enriquecedora do ponto de vista técnico e arquitectónico, foi sobretudo um desafio pela escala do projecto e complexidade dos serviços técnicos necessários.
Entre outras tarefas, fui responsável pelo design do átrio Earth Area, bem como pelo design dos pavimentos de todo o centro, tarefa que se revelou imensamente divertida e recompensadora. Ainda hoje lamento algumas das escolhas do cliente nesta matéria, mas no conjunto estou francamente satisfeito com o resultado final.
Forum Coimbra is a large scale shopping facility, following the trend of a recent explosion of mega shopping centres in Portugal. It’s 55 000 m2 of retail are set on the top of a hill, overlooking the Mondego river in Coimbra, resulting in a new visual reference for the city.
I joined Broadway Malyan Portugal to be immediately integrated on the design team responsible for this project, where I’ve worked for three years. Besides a truly enriching experience, from a technical and architectonical point of view, it was mostly a challenge, given the vast scale of the project, and the complexity of the technical services associated.
Amongst other tasks, I was responsible for the design of the Earth Area atrium, as well as the floorscapes of the entire shopping centre, a task that turned out to be of great fun and highly rewarding. I still regret some of the client’s options, but overall I feel very satisfied with the final result.

Here I sketch the storyboard of 2 characters, trapped in my body and linked to the world through my senses. They control my brain in a constant search for life waves, the eternal energy that feeds their souls.
Gummavitta is the explorer, the architect and the scientist. He searches the hemispheres of the earth, the mind and the human condition.
Mummagumma is the traveler, the painter and the dancer who collects Gummavitta´s experiences and memories and applies them to achieve connections. Connections with himself, which means you and I, us and them.
