Gummasystem é o conceito da unidade de habitação, intimamente ligado à estrutura conceptual de Gummavitta. Este sistema, tal como a cidade, baseia-se em movimentos e direcções orgânicas, sazonalidade e sistemas naturais.

O sistema simboliza a metamorfose na cidade, do industrial ao humano, das sombras de betão e da frieza rítmica metálica até aos espaços naturais abertos, de configuração diversa; contacto humano e formas orgânicas.

A proposta habitacional engloba 2 composições distintas, como pólos. Distintas em material e configuração,
resultam em espaços e vivências totalmente diferentes. Ambas as faces do conceito.

Gummavitta foi concebida sob a consciência e convicção do factor humano. Gummasystem foi a oportunidade de materializar na escala humana essa preocupação.

Gummasystem is the concept for the dwelling units, intimately connected to the conceptual structure of Gummavitta . The system, like the city, is based on organic directions and movements, on seasons and natural systems.

The system simbolizes the metamorphosis within the city, from industrial to personal, from cold steel rhythmic concrete shadows to human spaces, providing human contact and organic spaces.

The proposal for the dwellings covers two distinct compositions, like poles, distinct in material and configuration, resulting in totally different spaces. Both sides of my concept.

Gummavitta was conceived taking into account always and mostly the human factor. Gummasystem provided the chance to materialize this concern.

Quis começar a gummavitta.com com uma palavra ao mesmo tempo poderosa e intrigante, capaz de suscitar o tipo de convulsão social e entusiasmo erudito dignos de um golpe de estado na América do Sul. Depois de dias de cuidada ponderação, decidi-me por "quis".
Nunca nos devemos esquecer que as soluções mais simples são invariavelmente as melhores. Alegadamente, a NASA gastou mais de 11 milhões de dólares (na altura) no desenvolvimento de uma caneta especial capaz de escrever em ambiente de gravidade zero. A agencia espacial russa enviou os seus cosmonautas para o espaço com um lápis.

A simple idea

Wanting to start gummavitta.com with a word both powerfull and intriguing, capable of generating the type of social phenomenon and intellectual enthusiasm reminiscent of any South American power takeover, I have spent days of long consideration. I decided to use “wanting”.
We should never forget that the simplest solution is invariably the best. Reportedly, NASA spent over $11m( at the time), on developing a special pen that could work in zero gravity. The Russian equivalent space Agency sent their Cosmonauts into space with a pencil.

Projecto para uma cidade, localizada no nordeste de Itália, com capacidade para 100 000 habitantes. Utopia de puro deleite.

GUMMAVITTA é o nome. Deriva da aglutinação das palavras GUMMA, uma distorção da palavra «gamma» (gama) e VITTA, «vida» em italiano.

GUMMAVITTA é a génese. A cidade surge a partir de um ponto geométrico, obtido na intercepção do «cardus et decumanus», floresta e rio. Neste ponto cruzam-se 3 eixos, formando a praça central, e definindo as 6 principais direcções de movimentos.

GUMMA é o eixo. Passando pelo ponto geométrico, ao longo do rio Decumanus. ADRIÁTICO é o eixo que passa por esse ponto, paralelo ao mar Adriático. VENEZIA é o eixo que liga o ponto geométrico à cidade de Veneza.

ARYADN é o nome da ilha no rio DECUMANUS. A forma circular representa o infinito, pois a ilha é o centro religioso.

GUMMAVITTA é o resultado de experiências, de livros lidos e de ruas percorridas; de desenhos e de questões.

Project for a city, set in the north east of Italy, with capacity for 100 000 inhabitants. Utopia for fun.

GUMMAVITTA is the name. Derives from the addition of the words GUMMA, a distortion of the word gama (gamut), and VITTA, «life» in italian.

GUMMAVITTA is the genesis. The city begins exactly in a geometrical point, the intersection of the «cardus and decumanus», forest and river. At this point 3 axis cross, forming the central plaza, and define the 6 main directions of movement.

GUMMAVITTA is the axis. Connecting the geometrical central point to the city of Venice. ADRIATICO is the axis passing this point, parallel to the Adriatic sea. GUMMA is the axis along the Decumanus river, also passing the central point.

ARYADN . is the name of the island on the Decumanus river. The circular shape represents infinity, for this is the religious centre.

GUMMAVITTA is the result of experiences, of books read and streets walked; of drawings and questions.
